The goal was to design a custom set of playing card face cards that feel visually cohesive while remaining distinct from traditional deck illustrations. I created original kings, queens, and jacks inspired by historical royal portraiture, incorporating suit symbolism into the costumes, weapons, and ornamental details. This approach allowed the cards to feel recognizable and inspired by classic playing card design while maintaining a unique visual identity.
